Junior Jumpstart Sessions
GRADUATE SCHOOL
If you are considering a Ph.D. or a Master's program, these sessions will give you the chance to:
- Hear about the nature of graduate school and academic research
- Distinguish between good and bad reasons to attend graduate school
- Obtain helpful tips and application strategies
- Funding graduate school, including scholarships
- Learn about specific professional degree programs: MBA, MSW, MFA, MPP, MHA
- Identify some of the many career options
- Speak with advisors individually about your questions and concerns
FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT
On average, it takes most people three to six months to find a full-time job or complete the application process for a transitional program. These sessions give you the opportunity to:
- Get a head start on understanding the power of networking and maximizing the job search process
- Learn about professional practices for art and architecture students, including how to create a stellar portfolio and resume
- Meet with employers who will give you great tips about presenting yourself in paper and in person
LAW SCHOOL
Applications to law school have increased sharply over the past few years, making it more important than ever to submit complete and persuasive applications, and to file them early in the cycle. These sessions will help you:
- Decide whether law school is the right choice for you
- Explore whether to enter the workforce between college and law school
- Learn the application steps and timetables
- Hear from admissions representatives about what they look for in an applicant
MEDICAL/HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
Junior Jumpstart is essential for pre-health students. Sessions allow you to:
- Talk to professionals in a range of health care fields. This session is particularly useful if you are still evaluating your specific health care focus
- Hear first-hand from medical school admissions representatives about what they look for in a candidate
- Ask an AMCAS representative specific questions regarding the online application
- Participate in mock interviews
