National Scholarships and Fellowships

Welcome to the world of National Fellowships and Scholarships! Generally, these are highly competitive national opportunities for post-graduate study in a number of fields. Qualified students will have a high GPA, clearly defined goals and a consistent record of leadership and service. In addition, most of the competitive scholarships have national interviews, so eligible students are required to have strong communication skills.

THE VALUE OF APPLYING

Finalists and Awardees often talk about how valuable participating in the application process is whether or not they were actually awarded the scholarship. Students are forced to reflect in precise and clear ways about their personal and academic influences as well as their professional and post graduate visions for themselves. They are able to do this with the advice of many academic and non-academic mentors as they revise and finalize these intense applications. Finalists and nominees then have a head start on the preparation for other application processes as they make their transition out of WU and into the next phase of their lives. So, whether you are awarded the fellowship or not, the application process is worth the time and effort.

This website has a listing of all the fellowships that require you to participate in an internal WU nomination process. There are many other opportunities out there to consider, so do be sure to visit the resources section of this website. There you will find links to fellowship search engines as well as a listing of possible opportunities without any formal WU nomination process.
