When should students arrive and leave?
Students should plan to arrive on campus for check-in between the hours of 11 am-2 pm on Thursday of their weekend. If you are unable to arrive during this time frame please contact Stephanie Vossen ((314) 935-8548). Students should plan to depart campus before noon on Saturday.
Students planning to take placement exams should plan to arrive in St. Louis no later than 12:30 pm on Thursday unless they have taken the exam online prior to their arrival.
What if I cannot find a flight to make it to campus on time?
If you cannot find a flight that arrives on time please contact our office (314) 935-8548.
How early can I leave on Saturday?
There is no programming on Saturday so you can leave anytime before noon.
Is there transportation from the airport?
Students will need to arrange transportation (by taxi or MetroLink) from the airport to the Residential Life Office on the Washington University campus. Travel time to campus by taxi is approximately 20 minutes and the MetroLink will take approximately 30 minutes.
Directions to campus and more detailed information on taxis and the MetroLink will be sent with your confirmation and welcome materials.
Foreign Language:Students who plan to take French, Spanish, Italian, German, or Latin at Washington University in the fall semester must take the online placement exam from home BEFORE arriving on campus.
If you are unable to take the exam on-line you should plan to take the exam on campus before 1:00 pm on Thursday. You will take the exam on your own in the Language Lab in Eads Halls.
If you have no previous foreign language experience you do not need to take the exam. You will be placed in the beginning sequence of the desired language.
Other foreign language placement exams will be given in August during your student orientation.
Calculus:
Students who plan to take calculus at Washington University in the fall semester should take the online placement exam from home BEFORE arriving on campus. Please visit the math Web site: http://www.math.wustl.edu/placement/ for details and to take the exam.
How do I register for ArtSci Summer Weekends?
To register, please visit http://college.artsci.wustl.edu/artsci-summer-weekends. There is a $125 non-refundable registration fee. This cost includes housing, meals, activities, and instructional materials.
How do I know if I have been registered?
Once we receive your online registration, you will receive a confirmation email stating which weeekend you have been assigned. You will also receive a information packet in the mail. Students typically are given their first choice. If a student is not given their first choice they are notified immediately by phone.
Is there a deadline to register?
There is no deadline to register. We accept applications until the weekends are full. Each weekend is limited to 125 students.
Can I pay with a credit card?
No, you have a choice to charge your student account or mail in a check or money order.
Where do I stay during my ArtSci Summer Weekend?
You will stay in a residence hall with other ArtSci Summer Weekend students and room with one other student.
If I am from the area can I stay at home?
All students must stay in the residence hall during the weekend and attend all scheduled activities.
Can I leave campus during the event?
We expect all students to stay on campus the entire weekend. If you bring a car to campus you will not be allowed to drive during the weekend.
Is there something for parents during ArtSci Summer Weekends?
No, this weekend is a time for students to get to know each other and register for courses.
Do students still attend orientation in the fall if they attend ArtSci Summer Weekends?
Yes, you will attend orientation and attend all events except for the one-on-one advising sessions to register because you will have already registered and met with adviser during your ArtSci Summer Weekend.
If I do not attend ArtSci Summer Weekends, when do I register for fall classes?
You will register for fall classes during orientation in August.
Will I be at a disadvantage if I do not come to an ArtSci Summer Weekend?
It is certainly a great experience to come to an ArtSci Summer Weekend and we recommend it if you are available, however, if you cannot make it to one of the weekends then you will register in the fall and will still find a good assortment of classes to choose from. About half of the freshman class does not attend an ArtSci Summer Weekend.
Are there scholarships available to attend?
We do not have scholarships available, however, we would not want anyone to miss this opportunity because of financial hardship. If this is a concern for you please contact our office at (314) 935-8548.
